I love...

... My mom's macaroni and cheese. I could eat it all day long. I could eat it in a box. I could eat it with a fox. Yummy. I think that's one of the things I miss the most when I'm in Edmonton.

Sorry to go off on a little tangent there... I'm feeling nostalgic for home these last few days school.

Me too! I'm trying to squeeze in as much time is S'town as I can before I'm back to the grind. I'm really going to miss these "weekend" things, and a steady paycheck. Hmmm . . . only one more year and this will be my life. I'm not sure if I'm ready to work for the man yet. Maybe I should rebel and take a job as a liftie at Whistler for a few seasons.

Ahhh . . the sweet life,
S

Ooo, can I come too, Sonya?

Sure! We could wear cute little matching toques and skisuits and go everywhere together. And in the summer time we would enjoy the nearby Sunshine Coast and kyak from island to island in Desolation Sound. Sigh . . . Maybe I can be a librarian on a cruise ship? In New Zealand?

Bess:

Melt 3 tbsp of butter and add 3 tbsp of flour to make a roux.

Add 1.5 cups of old chedder cheese to make a soupy sauce. Add a tsp of worcestershire sauce, tsp of mustard, and salt and pepper to taste. You can add that Imperial cheese stuff too if you like, a tbsp or so.

Cook 1.5 cups of macaroni.

Pour the sauce into your dish, and add the macaroni 'till you have the desired consistency (not too much or it will be dry)

Crumble up plain chips and add them to the top with paprika for colour, and a little extra cheese to get it bubblin'.

Cook at 300 for 30-45 minutes. Let cool... Eat a lot.

Enjoy!

Oo Oo! Fun. Um, so Jenny, are you still going to host those "real brown baggers" with booze in brown bags for the first years?

School sounds extra entertaining this year! Did anyone check out the site I posted yesterday afternoon? It's a good starting place for food nostalgia. My memories of my dad's early cooking experiments have been completely wiped out. Let's just say "fish soup" and ol'fashioned "toad-in-a-hole" not the best combo.
